Washington, Pa. – The Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) completed its portion of the 2026 boys’ tennis season at the WPIAL/UPMC Sports Medicine Boys’ Tennis Team Championships this past Tuesday, May 5 at Janet L. Swanson Tennis Center on the campus of Washington & Jefferson College.

The top two teams in Class 3A and top three teams in Class 2A have qualified for the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) Boys’ Tennis Team Championships. For Class 3A, the qualifiers are North Allegheny and Upper St. Clair. In Class 2A, Quaker Valley, North Catholic, and Blackhawk have moved on to the state tournament.

CLASS 3A RECAP
Top-seeded North Allegheny swept its way to the WPIAL title, defeating second-seeded Upper St. Clair, 5-0, in the championship match.
The Tigers showed their depth by winning every flight. In the first singles flight, Advaita Sircar (9) defeated Carter Lichtman (9), 6-1, 6-0. Aswhin Sudhakar took the second flight over Sidney Weissert (12) with a 6-2, 6-3 victory, while Evan Kaufman secured the third flight against Ethan Yealy (9), 6-3, 6-3.
In doubles action, the pair of Matthew Kampi and Adhar Ram won 6-0, 7-5 against Myles Owens and William Whitman (12). The sweep was completed at second doubles, where Shivum Telang and Ronit Ginde defeated Daniel Smith and Rex Wanjte, 6-1, 7-5.
North Allegheny reached the finals with 5-0 wins over Greater Latrobe, Peters Township, and Fox Chapel. Upper St. Clair advanced to the championship by defeating Shaler (5-0), Franklin Regional (5-0), and Mt. Lebanon (3-2).

CLASS 2A RECAP
Fifth-seeded Quaker Valley capped off an impressive run by defeating second-seeded North Catholic, 3-2, to claim the Class 2A championship.
The match came down to the wire, with Quaker Valley finding strength in their doubles teams and a critical singles win. At first singles, Will Meagher (11) outlasted Justin Garvey (12) in three sets, 6-1, 3-6, 6-1. North Catholic answered back in the other singles flights, as Alex Weber (12) won 6-4, 6-3 over Tanner Schultz (12), and Jake Sinclair took a three-set thriller against Charlie Pyle (11), 6-4, 4-6, 6-3.
Quaker Valley secured the title by sweeping the doubles matches. Dom DiTano (10) and Sutton Hoehl (12) won a tight first-flight match against Paddy McCabe and Lenny Splane, 7-6(5), 6-4. At second doubles, Carter Hawes (10) and Patrick Connors (12) defeated Jackson Schlegel and Dylan Bopp, 6-3, 6-3.
Quaker Valley’s path to the trophy included victories over Valley (4-1), Winchester Thurston (5-0), and top-seeded Blackhawk (3-2). North Catholic reached the finals by eliminating Ellwood City (5-0), Hampton (4-1), and Indiana (3-2). In the third-place consolation match, Blackhawk defeated Indiana, 3-2, to secure the final PIAA qualifying spot.
