WPIAL Announces 2025 Boys’ Tennis Team Championships Brackets

North Allegheny (Class 3A) and South Park (Class 2A) are the top seeds in their respective classifications

Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) revealed its brackets for the WPIAL/UPMC Sports Medicine Boys’ Tennis Team Championships on Thursday, with 32 teams qualifying by finishing inside the top four of their respective sections following the regular season.
 
Teams competed in four different sections in both Class 2A and Class 3A, and played each of their section opponents once.
 
The Class 3A section champions were Gateway (8-0, 8-0) in Section I, North Allegheny (11-1, 7-0) in Section II, Fox Chapel (10-2, 6-0) in Section III, and Mt. Lebanon (11-1, 7-0) in Section IV. Emerging as section champions in Class 2A were Valley (10-0, 7-0) in Section I, South Park (7-1, 6-0) in Section II, North Catholic (8-2, 6-0) in Section III, and Blackhawk (9-0, 6-0) in Section IV.
 
Last season, North Allegheny defeated Gateway, 3-2, in the Class 3A final to win its fifth WPIAL boys’ tennis team championship and first since 2009, while Sewickley Academy extended its league record with its 25th title after a 3-2 triumph against Quaker Valley in Class 2A.
 
The WPIAL/UPMC Sports Medicine Boys’ Tennis Team Championships begin on Monday, April 28 with first round matches in Class 3A. Championship matches are scheduled to be played on Wednesday, May 7 at the Janet L. Swanson Tennis Center on the campus of Washington & Jefferson College. The top two teams in Class 3A and top three teams in Class 2A will move onto the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) Boys’ Tennis Team Championships, which begin with first round matches on Tuesday, May 13, with the remainder of the tournament held on May 16-17 at Hershey Racquet Club.
