North Allegheny’s Maravich, Derry’s Hauser Capture Gold at 2025 WPIAL Boys’ Diving Championships

Ethan Maravich is North Allegheny’s fourth WPIAL diving champion since 1980, and Jake Hauser is Derry’s first

Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) held its WPIAL/UPMC Sports Medicine Boys’ Diving Championships this past Friday and Saturday at North Allegheny High School. A total of 27 student-athletes competed across the two classifications, with North Allegheny junior Ethan Maravich winning the title at Class 3A and Derry senior Jake Hauser capturing the Class 2A crown.

Maravich is the fourth different North Allegheny student-athlete since 1980 to win WPIAL gold in the 1-meter dive, joining Connor Kuremsky (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011), Will Schenk (2022), and Scott Wolf (1991). His win, along with Maggie Lapina on the girls’ side, make it twice in four years that the Tigers have swept both Class 3A diving titles.

Hauser is Derry’s first WPIAL champion. The Trojans are now the 32nd different school to win gold in the 1-meter dive since 1980, and are the third new school – joining Blackhawk and Ligonier Valley – to join the club at the Class 2A level.

The top four finishers in Class 3A and top six finishers in Class 2A have qualified for the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) Boys’ Swimming & Diving Championships, which will be held March 12-15 at Kinney Natatorium on the campus of Bucknell University.
