North Allegheny, Quaker Valley Repeat as WPIAL Girls’ Track & Field Team Champions

The WPIAL crowned repeat girls’ track & field team champions for the first time since 2016

Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) hosted its WPIAL/UPMC Sports Medicine Girls’ Track & Field Team Championships on Tuesday at Peters Township Middle School and West Mifflin High School. Four teams each from the 2A and 3A classifications competed in the championship meet, with North Allegheny defending its 3A title and Quaker Valley reigning again in 2A.

The 3A championship is North Allegheny’s 13th overall, which is the second most in WPIAL history. The Tigers were victorious in 1986, 1987, 1993, 1994, 1995, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2022, and with the North Allegheny boys’ team winning as well, this marks the first time since 2005 that the school won both championships in the same year.

Quaker Valley’s title at 2A is its ninth overall, which ranks third in league laurels. The Quakers previously won in 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2007, and 2022.

This is the first time since 2016 that the same two schools defended their WPIAL track & field team titles, with Hempfield Area in 3A and Beaver in 2A previously accomplishing the feat.
