WPIAL, First National Bank Announce Third Financial Trivia Challenge

First National Bank will sponsor the third annual WPIAL Financial Trivia Challenge, which runs from October 23 to December 12

Pittsburgh, Pa. – Oct. 22, 2025 – The Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) and First National Bank, the largest subsidiary of F.N.B. Corporation (NYSE: FNB), announced on Tuesday the return of the Financial Trivia Challenge, with the third year of the competition set to take place from Thursday, Oct. 23 to Friday, Dec. 12.

The Financial Trivia Challenge presented by First National Bank was introduced two years ago as a competition for Western Pennsylvania students to earn important financial skills, with cash rewards distributed to the highest scores and the schools with the most student participation. Last year, the Financial Trivia Challenge saw 98 schools and 1,200 students participate, with $6,000 in monetary rewards distributed to students and member schools. Serra Catholic was the top participating school and received a grant of $2,000, while Laurel Highlands student Maddox McAllister won the $600 monetary prize for the highest score among participating students.

“We are grateful for the continued support of First National Bank and their commitment to improve the lives of the students of the WPIAL,” said Scott Seltzer, WPIAL Executive Director. “We are proud of all the schools and students that participated in last year’s Financial Trivia Challenge, and are looking forward to the same kind of enthusiasm for this year.”

Participants will have 90 seconds to answer as many financial-related trivia questions as possible. They can improve upon their score by participating up to 75 times while comparing their results with others across the WPIAL on the leaderboard. To encourage early competition, First National Bank will give a $250 reward to the three WPIAL member schools with the most student participating during the first week of the Financial Trivia Challenge. The top 10 students with the highest scores will take home cash rewards of up to $600, and the top three member schools with the most overall participation predicated on total student enrollment will receive a reward of up to $2,000 from First National Bank.

“Financial knowledge is an important factor in a consumer’s ability to achieve goals and become independent,” said Ronald Donatelli, President of First National Bank’s Pittsburgh Region. “By teaming up with the WPIAL, we can empower students to take control of their financial future years before they reach adulthood, planting the seeds for confidence, responsibility and possibility.”

As the official bank of the WPIAL, First National Bank provides free financial education to member school educators and students through their Financial Insights Program as well as the Financial Trivia Challenge. The Financial Trivia Challenge presented by First National Bank begins on Thursday, Oct. 23 and will run until Friday, Dec. 12.
