McMurray, Pa. – The Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) awarded gold medals to its newest champions at the WPIAL/UPMC Sports Medicine Boys' Golf Individual Championships, held Monday and Tuesday.
Junior Carson Kittsley became the eighth different student-athlete from Fox Chapel to win a WPIAL boys' golf title—a league record. Kittsley also set a new WPIAL mark with his stellar play, finishing with a two-day score of 134 (-8), the lowest total since the league adopted the 36-hole format in 2022. He entered this year's championship after placing fourth last season and finishing 15th as a freshman, where he competed as an alternate.
OLSH senior Jonah Schollaert made history of his own, becoming the first student-athlete from Our Lady of the Sacred Heart to win a WPIAL boys' golf title. His victory also makes OLSH the 55th different school to produce a WPIAL individual boys' golf champion. Schollaert, last year made the cut at the WPIAL Championships finishing T-4th as he moved on to the state championships.
