Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) and 100.1 FM, AM-1020 Newsradio KDKA announces today that they have entered into a groundbreaking, innovative, multi-year partnership with Newsradio KDKA serving as the flagship station of the WPIAL.
“The WPIAL is very excited about our partnership with the world’s first radio station, KDKA,” said WPIAL Executive Director Scott Seltzer. “They’ve made it clear to us they are committed to telling the stories of the great accomplishments of our student athletes. We look forward to having KDKA as our flagship station for a long time.”

As part of the agreement, KDKA Radio will become the official radio broadcast partner of the WPIAL, providing a combination of highly produced terrestrial radio and audio streaming (free-of-charge) broadcasts of all WPIAL football and boys and girls basketball championship games. Continuing will be the station’s award-winning, on-air and digital coverage of the KDKA Radio Game of the Week, which includes additional, exciting programs and content to be announced at a later date.
The synergistic agreement also calls for expanded branding and promotional consideration for the WPIAL that meets the ever-changing landscape of scholastic athletics while also providing robust and diverse platforms for the league partners, member schools and student-athletes.
