Vince Sortino enters his fifth year with the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) in 2024-25 and his second as the chief operating officer. He was hired as the assistant to the executive director prior to the 2020-21 school year.
 
As chief operating officer, Sortino’s responsibilities include organizing all sport-specific championship tournaments, overseeing all sport-specific steering committees, overseeing the WPIAL Hall of Fame selection and planning of the annual banquet, and management of officials, such as scheduling for postseason games, and overseeing officials’ relations as well as player and coach ejections.
 
Sortino has been a part of the WPIAL for most of his professional career, including spending 28 years with the Baldwin-Whitehall School District. He was a special education teacher at Baldwin and spent 12 years as the school’s athletic director, helping bring numerous WPIAL championships to its facilities. In 2015, Sortino was named Region IV Athletic Administrator of the Year by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Directors Association (PSADA). He also spent two years as the athletic director at Dallastown, which is a Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) District III school in York County competing at the highest classifications.
 
A graduate of Duquesne University, Sortino earned a Bachelor of Education degree in special education and teaching. He also holds Master’s degree in educational leadership from California University of Pennsylvania, and in secondary school administration and principalship from the University of Pittsburgh.
