Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League

The Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) is welcoming Matthew Manz as Assistant to the Executive Director. Matthew will be responsible for media communications and assist in other aspects of the office.  

Matthew Manz, a communications professional with more than five years of experience in the sports industry, brings a strong background in media relations, digital strategy, and event management to the WPIAL. 

He previously served as Assistant Media Relations Director at Robert Morris University, where he managed media and statistical information for three varsity sports, coordinated media sessions with coaches and players, and oversaw game-day staff.

Prior to that, he was a Graduate Assistant in Athletic Communications at Saint Francis University, serving as the primary contact for three sports while managing social media, writing content, and producing game coverage. 

A 2017 graduate of Avonworth High School, Manz went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in sport management from Slippery Rock University in 2021 and a master’s degree in business administration from Saint Francis University in 2023.
