Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (PIAA District vii)
Brian Geyer enters his first year as the Associate Executive Director of the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL), having been appointed to the role on March 1, 2026. Prior to this appointment, Geyer established himself as a leader within the league’s governance, serving as the WPIAL Board of Directors President and a member of the PIAA Board of Directors.
As Associate Executive Director, Geyer’s responsibilities include the critical oversight of student eligibility and the interpretation of PIAA bylaws. He plays a central role in the development of sectional alignments for all league sports, ensuring competitive balance across the district. Additionally, he manages sport-specific steering committees and directs the logistics of championship tournaments, coordinating committee assignments and the selection of championship host sites.
Geyer has been a cornerstone of the WPIAL for nearly two decades. Before joining the league’s executive staff, he served as the Director of Athletics at Peters Township School District for 15 years, where he transformed the campus into a destination for championship competition. Under his direction, Peters Township hosted PIAA contests in baseball, basketball, soccer, softball, and volleyball, as well as countless WPIAL title matches. His career in athletic administration began at Seton-LaSalle High School, where he served as Athletic Director and Transportation Director from 2006 to 2011.
Beyond his local duties, Geyer is a highly respected figure on the state and national stage. He serves as the WPIAL representative to the PIAA Basketball Committee and, since 2017, has represented an eight-state region for the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA) via the National Initiative and Assistance Network. A past President of the WPIAL Athletic Directors Association, Geyer also continues to serve on the Executive Board and as Treasurer of the South Hills Athletic Directors Association.
A graduate of Clarion University, Geyer earned a Bachelor of Science in Education. He also holds Certified Athletic Administrator (CAA) status through the NIAAA, a credential held by approximately 10% of athletic administrators nationwide.
