A 2006 graduate of Serra Catholic, Laura Grimm was a key component in the Eagles’ most successful run in program history. Grimm owns the school career records for points (1,940), assists (497), steals (391), and three-point field goals made (283), and also holds the single-game record for three-pointers made with seven. Serra Catholic went 103-12 over her four varsity seasons, making the WPIAL Championship Game every year while winning the 2003 and 2005 editions. The Eagles also captured their first PIAA championship in 2005 with a 53-44 victory over Marian Catholic, and advanced to the PIAA quarterfinals in 2003 and 2006. Grimm was the Associated Press Pennsylvania State Player of the Year as a junior and made the All-State First Team in 2005 and 2006. She was selected as Player of the Year by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and Pittsburgh Tribune-Review in 2005 and 2006, earned another Player of the Year accolade by the McKeesport Daily News in 2005, and appeared on the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette East Fab 5 in 2004 and the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review Terrific Ten in 2005 and 2006. A four-time All-Section First Team pick, Grimm was selected to play in the historic Roundball Classic at Geneva College following her senior season, and received a full athletic scholarship to play basketball at Colgate University. The 2010 Colgate graduate was the athletic director at Ringgold from 2015 to 2022 before being hired as the assistant athletic director at Bethel Park. She was most recently elected to the WPIAL Board of Directors for the 2023-2024 academic year.
