The 2004 Hopewell High School girls’ volleyball team stands as one of the most dominant programs in WPIAL and PIAA history, completing a championship season that cemented its place among the state’s elite. That year, Hopewell captured its third consecutive WPIAL championship and went on to win the PIAA Class AA state title, while also claiming Section, Midwestern Athletic Conference, Montour Tournament, Blackhawk Tournament, and State College Tournament championships. The Vikings finished the season undefeated in section play at 12-0 and entered the year riding a remarkable 59-0 winning streak against WPIAL opponents, a testament to the sustained excellence of the program. The roster was led by Christa Harmotto, the 2004 Pennsylvania Gatorade Player of the Year and a PrepVolleyball.com All-American, who would go on to star at Penn State, earn a place on the USA Women’s National Team, and compete in the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games. The team’s success extended well beyond the high school level, as the 2004 squad produced five Division I volleyball players along with several additional athletes who continued their careers collegiately.
