A 2017 graduate of Franklin Regional, Spencer Lee is one of wrestling’s greatest successes at every level of competition. Lee is one of 31 student-athletes to win four WPIAL individual wrestling titles, and claimed three PIAA gold medals while competing at the 113 and 120-pound weight classes. He finished his high school career with a 144-1 record and earned the No. 1 national ranking in each of his four varsity years. Lee won the U17 world championship in 2014, and the U20 world championship in 2015 and 2016 while competing at the 50-kilogram weight class. After graduation, he moved on to the University of Iowa, finishing with a 95-6 career record, three Big Ten titles in 2020, 2021, and 2023, and three NCAA championships in 2018, 2019, and 2021 at the 125-pound weight class. Lee was the 2019 James E. Sullivan Award recipient for the most outstanding athlete at the collegiate or Olympic level in the United States, and twice won the Dan Hodge Trophy as the top collegiate wrestler, which makes him just one of six multi-time winners of the award. He now represents Team USA as a key member of its wrestling program, and boasts a haul of medals from national and international competition.  Lee won gold at the 2019 and 2023 U.S. National Championships, the 2024 Pan American Championships, and the 2025 Grand Prix de France and Grand Prix Zagreb Open. He was a part of Team USA at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics, bringing home the silver medal at the 57-kilogram weight class, which was the best finish for a United States men’s wrestler across the freestyle and Greco-Roman divisions.
