A 1992 graduate of Aliquippa, Ty Law became one of football’s greatest defensive backs by first harnessing his skills with the Quips. Law played runningback, wide receiver, cornerback, and safety for Aliquippa, helping lead the team to the 1991 WPIAL and PIAA Class 2A championships. As a senior, he was a Parade Magazine High School All-America selection, earned Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Fab 22 honors, and was picked to play for Team Pennsylvania in the Big 33 All-Star Game. Law also received the Ron Vincich Underclassman Award in 1990, and received Team MVP honors for the Quips basketball team. He went on to star at the University of Michigan, becoming the first true freshman to start in 1992. Law garnered a pair of All-Big Ten First Team nods with the Wolverines, and was selected to the Walter Camp All-America First Team in 1994. After three collegiate seasons, he entered the 1995 NFL Draft and was chosen with the 23rd overall selection by the New England Patriots. Law enjoyed a 15-year NFL career, primarily starring for the Patriots, but also spending time with the Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs, and New York Jets. His 47-yard pick six in Super Bowl XXXVI helped lift the Patriots to their first NFL championship in 2002, and he added two more Super Bowl rings along with five Pro Bowl nods and two All-Pro selections. Law led the NFL interceptions in 1998 and 2005, and finished with 53 for his career - which ranks inside the top 25 all-time. He was inducted into the Beaver County Sports Hall of Fame in 2011, and later garnered Patriots Hall of Fame plaudits in 2014 and Pro Football Hall of Fame accolades in 2019.
