A 2017 graduate of Knoch, Jordan Geist began his All-American track & field career by dominating at the WPIAL and PIAA levels. Geist captured six WPIAL and six PIAA gold medals in the shot put and discus, completing three-peats in both events. He owns the WPIAL championship meet records in the shot put and discus with tosses of 73 feet, 10.75 inches and 208 feet, 7 inches, respectively, and boasts the PIAA championship meet standards in shot put and discus with respective throws of 74 feet, 3.5 inches and 207 feet, 6 inches. Geist also owns state records in the hammer and indoor weight throw, and won a national title at the 2017 New Balance Outdoor Championships in the hammer throw with a toss of 238 feet – the third-best mark in United States high school history. He also broke the national high school record in the 16-pound shot put with a throw of 68 feet, 4 inches in an indoor meet at Hempfield Area, and took home gold at the 2017 Pan American Under-20 Championships and the TSTCA Indoor Championships. Geist was named Pennsylvania Gatorade Player of the Year in track & field in 2017, and then went on to compete at the University of Arizona, earning 11 All-America honors and two College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America First Team nods. He won six Pac-12 titles in the shot put and hammer throw, captured three Pac-12 Field Athlete of the Year awards, and the 2018 Pac-12 Freshman of the Year. In his final collegiate season, Geist won the NCAA shot put titles in indoor and outdoor track & field, and owned the top nine indoor marks in shot put across the entire NCAA. He is a two-time Pan American Games medalist in the shot put, and ranked top 25 in the world in both it and the hammer throw in 2023. Geist is currently training full-time to compete for Team USA at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
