A 1969 graduate of Washington, Ron Faust went from four-sport letterman for the Little Prexies to their legendary basketball coach. Faust competed in baseball, basketball, football, and track & field at Washington, then went on to win four letters as a member of the California University of Pennsylvania baseball team before graduating in 1973. He returned to Washington as an English teacher in 1974 and spent those first few years coaching cross country, golf, and track & field, as well as assisting Doug Masciola with the basketball team. After becoming an assistant coach at Washington & Jefferson College in 1979, Faust returned to become the head coach of the Little Prexies in 1981. He spent 36 years over two different stints on the Washington bench, compiling a record of 653-241 with 22 section championships, four WPIAL titles, and a pair of PIAA Class 2A championships. Faust’s teams posted a perfect 6-0 mark in WPIAL and PIAA championship games, and between 1984 and 1985, the Little Prexies reeled off a then-WPIAL record 52 consecutive victories. Additionally, he was Washington’s athletic director from 1995 until 2009 while continuing his coaching and teaching duties, earning Tri-County Athletic Directors Association (TriCADA) Athletic Director of the Year in 1999 and 2003. Over the course of his career, Faust was twice named the Dapper Dan Basketball Coach of the Year, and garnered the 1984 Pennsylvania Class 2A Coach of the Year. He was head coach of the Pennsylvania team that faced the United States team in the 1985 Dapper Dan Roundball Classic. In 2002, Faust was inducted into the Washington-Greene County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Hall of Fame, and four years later he received the Michael Duda Award for Athletic Achievement from his collegiate alma mater, California University of Pennsylvania.
