Hanley served the League in every possible way as a steering committee member, Board of Control member, officer, and Executive Director. He was a member of the board for 16 years of which he was vice-president for 6 years and president for 6 years. In 1996, he was appointed by the Board as the executive director, a position he held until retiring in 2006.
