A 2001 graduate of Bethel Park, Emily Carter enjoyed an All-American swimming career with the BlackHawks. Carter was an 11-time All-American, leading the team to three WPIAL titles (1998, 1999, 2000) and a pair of PIAA crowns (1998, 1999), while taking home seven WPIAL and five PIAA gold medals individually. She established a WPIAL record in the 100 breaststroke in 2000 with a time of 1:02.98 – a mark that stood for 12 years – and set new WPIAL and PIAA standards in the 200 medley relay. In Bethel Park laurels, Carter set three home pool records and four school records – three of which still stand over 23 years later – and academically, she graduated in the top two percent of her class and was a three-time Scholastic All-American. After her final high school meet, she competed at the 2000 Junior National Championships and captured gold in the 200 breaststroke, and qualified for the 200 Olympic Trials in the 100 and 200 breaststroke. Carter went on to attend Stanford University, competing for three seasons and graduating in 2005 with a Bachelor’s degree in economics. She added a Master of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin in 2013, and currently is the Senior Director of People Analytics at Visa in San Francisco.
